House Progress

A lot has happened at the lot this week.... or so it seems for us! We felt like it took forever to get the ball rolling, but now something new is going on there every day!

Here are some pictures of the progress thus far...

This was taken after the lot was staked last week.

Aaron tried to explain what this was to me.... but I don't remember now. I just trust they know what they are doing!

the foundation was poured this past Wednesday

& the blocks were laid today!

Aaron is in Oklahoma City right now for a big softball tournament so I know it is probably irritating him that he can't see this in person. He will probably try to talk me into driving out there tomorrow too to see if anything new is done! haha

Good luck Aaron!

A year ago today...

A year ago today Aaron and I got engaged!

It was a pretty cold fall morning from what I remember last Sept. 25th. We woke up before the sun rose and met the balloon team in a Kroger parking lot. They drove us to an elementary school that had enough space to set the balloon up. Aaron helped the team a lot with the set up while I stood aside wrapper up in a blanket taking pictures. :) Once the balloon was ready to go we climbed in and took off! I can remember not believing how calm the ride was. The "balloon pilot" eventually asked us if we would like for him to take a picture of us and of course we said yes. Little did I know, this was all planned out by Aaron so that he would have the camera during the proposal. The next thing I knew Aaron was asking me to marrying him and showing me the most gorgeous ring ever! After that the pilot actually flew the balloon straight over where I live now with my aunt and uncle and they were able to take pictures of us from the ground. We landed in someones front yard and narrowly missed taking out their mailbox! While the crew was busy putting the balloon away, I was busy admiring my new ring! I was so excited and I think the first person I told was a random man driving by on a golf cart. The crew drove us back to Aaron's truck and we spent the next hour sitting in the Kroger parking lot taking turns calling family & friends to tell them the good news. It was SUCH an amazing and happy day in my life.

I had always dreamed of getting proposed to in a hot air balloon and I am 100% positive I never shared this with Aaron. I think the only one who knew about that idea was a journal I kept when I was like 13! It is so crazy that Aaron actually made that dream come true!

I just looked down at my phone about 30 minutes ago and noticed today was the 25th. I looked over at Aaron and said "happy engagement anniversary!" He immediately had a huge smile on his face and said he couldn't believe it had been a whole year. We both remembered last year this time thinking about how far away our wedding date seemed. It is crazy how time flies! Now our wedding is less than a year away and I know the time left before then will pass by even faster.

I can't wait until June 17, 2012!

This was taken right before we went up in the balloon.

Blowing up the balloon.

The Proposal!!

You can barely see my Aunt Mel, Uncle Andy & B-man in the driveway!

This was a picture my uncle took of us from down below.

&.....my amazingly beautiful ring!

We caught the chipmunk!

The trap was set for less than 24 hours and we already caught the chipmunk!

I still have no idea what we will do with it though. My aunt was worried about the cats (that we don't have yet) trying to kill it so I think my uncle might let it loose in a field. But, for right now, the little guy is stuffing his face with popcorn kernels!

Aaron and I met with the builder and superintendent for the house this afternoon. They were super nice and seemed really flexible with our schedules. Aaron will be doing some of the work (painting, tiling, flooring, and shower work) on his own so its really great that the builder is willing to work with us on that aspect. We are going to a tile outlet this Saturday in Clarksville, TN and I know Aaron can't wait to get started on all of his projects. These people have no idea what they've gotten themselves into by agreeing to work with Aaron! He is an extreme perfectionist when it comes to things like this. With everything I've got going on right now, its nice to know that Aaron is so on top of this project though! I'm so excited to see how everything turns out. From what we were told today it sounds like this process is going to go pretty quickly.

Weekend News

I do not understand why the weekends have to go by so quickly!

I spent most of my time working on homework and reading since Aaron was out of town. He had a softball tournament this weekend in Owensboro, KY.  I spent some quality time with little "Z-man" while the rest of the family worked outside. I also tried to work on beach updo hairstyles! Since we are getting married at 8:30 in the morning I will have to do my own hair and makeup. I figure I have the next 10 months to practice.

Onton Hay Days started on Friday and I unfortunately (& for the first time since the festival started) had to miss out on it. I have a ton of school work that's due over the next couple weeks and I knew next weekend Aaron and I would be traveling home once again to get our engagement photos taken. So..... I had to sacrifice one of the two weekends for school work. I am planning on being there next year though and setting up my jewelry booth once again!

This weekend we also figured out that its nearly impossible to get a cat from a pet store in Louisville. My aunt and uncle have tried for weeks now to get 2 kittens for Bryce man but have had no luck so far. He plans to name one "Tallahassee" and the other "Florida." Our family has a tendency to give pets odd names. Their last cat was named Boston and my sister's cat is named Expo. We really had our hopes up today that we would finally get to bring the kittens home but apparently you need references to buy kittens here. We found out that we aren't eligible cat owners because we didn't intend on keeping the kittens indoors at all times. Feeders Supply told my uncle that the cats needed to be on leashes when they were outside. Who ever heard of such a thing?! I mean, they are animals.... they want to be outdoors. Anyways, it was crazy and frustrating and now we are dead set on catching this chipmunk that's been hanging out around the back patio. It's super cute and my uncle bought a live trap at Lowe's this afternoon so hopefully we will catch him. What we are going to do with him- I have no idea.  haha

We bought our kitchen appliances today at Lowe's so that was exciting! Tomorrow we meet with the superintendent to finalize all of our decisions on the house. Hopefully we will find out what the next steps will be in the building process and how long it will all take.

September 14, 2011

The next year of my life is going to be insanely busy. Between finishing up my senior year of college, interning at Kindred Healthcare, tutoring for BU, planning a wedding in another state hundreds of miles away, and building a house with my fiance - there will be little down time over the next year.

I wouldn't say that I keep journals, but I do write down a lot of the big/fun/happy stuff that goes on in my life. There are just some things I never want to forget. & I am certain that while the next year will be a HUGE time of change for me, it will also hold some of the best memories of my entire life. So, I figured.... why not share my "journal" online? This will be a great and different way for me to record the craziness that will surely go on over the next 10 months or so; it will also be a great way to make sure my family/friends don't miss out on any of that craziness either!

and I guess you could say that craziness officially begins today because......
WE BROKE GROUND TODAY!   Yayyyy! We are so excited. Here goes nothing!
